From the ground

Shingles lifting or flapping on windy days.
Missing or crooked ridge caps.
Shingle edges overhanging without drip edge.

In the attic

Daylight around vents or chimneys.
Damp insulation or stained decking.
Little or no soffit-to-ridge airflow.

On the paperwork

Find your contract and warranty. Was the warranty registered? Is the contractor still in business? A local roofer can tell you if workmanship issues may still be covered.

What to do

If anything looks off, book a free inspection. Small fixes like resealing, renailing or adding vents are much cheaper than waiting for a leak.
